Coaches

Do you have little or no experience with soccer? No problem! AYSO will teach you based on the age level you are coaching. Unique age-appropriate coach training is one of AYSO’s specialties. If you plan to be at your child’s soccer practices and matches, you’ll also have time to be your child’s coach.
 
Coach Position Descriptions
 
 
You must be at least 18 years old to be a Coach or Assistant Coach. Follow the instructions for the division in which you’ll be coaching.
 
6U, 8U, & VIP Coaches:

  • Register as a volunteer on Blue Sombrero at www.ayso166.org
  • Take the online AYSO Safe Haven course at aysou.org
  • Take or have taken the online 8U COACH course at aysou.org

10U and 12U Coaches:

  • Register as a volunteer on Blue Sombrero at www.ayso166.org
  • Take the online AYSO Safe Haven course at aysou.org
  • Take or have taken the 12U COACH course–signup at aysou.org
  • (If you take the online 10U classroom portion, you still have to come to the 12U coach training for the field portion.)

  • The online Concussion Training Course is optional but recommended and available at “HEADS UP”

14U Coaches:

  • Register as a volunteer on Blue Sombrero at www.ayso166.org
  • Pass or have passed the INTERMEDIATE COACH course–signup at aysou.org
  • Pre-requisites for the course include: Certified as a 12U Coach, online Summary of the Laws of the Game, online Concussion Training Course, AYSO SafeHaven, and training plan design

16U and 18U Coaches:

  • Register as a volunteer on Blue Sombrero at www.ayso166.org
  • Pass or have passed the 3-day ADVANCED COACH course–signup at aysou.org
  • Pre-requisites for the course include: Certified as an Intermediate Coach and course pre-requisites
