Happy New Year and welcome back for another year of volunteer-run youth soccer in Sparks, Nevada. Our Annual Business Meeting will be Saturday, January 25. For, I think, the third year in a row, it will be held at David’s Grill at the Red Hawk Golf Course. We have a room reserved from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
We need all those interested in volunteering to attend or let us know what you could be able to assist with in the upcoming year. Board member positions begin with 2 hours per month volunteering all the way to Bob Barkley, which leaves quite a range. If you can volunteer at least 2-5 hours a month, there are many board positions that may fit your desire to help.
As for our favorite coaches and referees, you do not have to attend the annual meeting but don’t forget to register for the upcoming season at www.ayso166.org. All background check fees and training costs are paid by the region.
If you haven’t volunteered before, Sparks AYSO holds a spring and fall season. We also host a couple of competitive (club) teams that play 10-11 months a year. From the smallest of positions to being out on the fields each week, there are many different ways to help.
As for the business meeting, we discuss goals, calendar, and budget primarily. Heck, I’d like to even see some local companies and sponsors step up in the coming year. And we are debating if player registration costs will increase to cover having a company paid to paint fields each week since Bob is already doing so much for our region. We will also discuss how to get more Intermediate and Advanced coaches and referees on the pitch for our older kids’ matches.
So, if you can volunteer 2 or more hours a month, please join us… Saturday, January 25 at David’s Grill in Sparks. Even if you can only make half of the 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., we would still be thrilled to have more help so our program can be of a higher quality.
