ALL-STAR SELECTION POLICY
(for U10 - U19 Only)

  • All-Star teams will be selected for U10 Boys, U10 Girls, U12 Boys, U12 Girls, U15 Boys,
U15 Girls, & U19 Co-ed. AYSO National has the U14 program whereas Region 166 has
a U15 program. In order to play in other AYSO tournaments, our region must field a U14
team. Therefore, any U15 player that is 14 years old as of July 31st prior to the season
will not be eligible to play on the U14 All-Star teams but will be eligible to play on
    the U19 Co-Ed All-Star team.
  • All-Star Committee will consist of: Regional Commissioner, Assistant Regional
Commissioners, Director of Coordinators and Division Coordinator.
  • Division Coordinator will have on file from each coach the team roster including jersey number
of each player. Division Coordinator distributes these rosters to each coach in the division.
  • Throughout the season, coaches will be “evaluating, observing” not only the players on
his/her team but players throughout the league.
  • On the first weekend of October, each division will hold a division meeting to vote and select
the All-Star Team. At least one All-Star Committee member, in addition to the Division
Coordinator, will be present for the selection meeting.
  • Selection process at meeting will go as follows:
    • Each coach (one coach from each team) will submit a ballot of his/her top players
from the league to complete an all star roster.
      • U10 – 9 players, U12 – 12 players, U15 – 14 players, U19 – 14 players
    • Each coach will also submit his/her choice for coach for the All-Star team.

The top 14 vote getters will be named to the All-Star team.
      • U10 – 9 players, U12 – 12 players, U15 – 14 players, U19 – 14 players

**there may be two all star teams selected for U10 divisions and U12 divisions – will be determined before selection time. If that is the case, U10 coaches will select top 18 players and U12 coaches will select top 24 players in order to have two rosters.

    • Division Coordinator and other committee member will tally votes from each coach on
the coach selection. Top vote getter will be named the All-Star Team coach and that
person will select his/her assistant coach. Coaches must have the following
certifications in order to coach all-stars:
      • U12 - U12 Certification
      • U14 - Intermediate
      • U19 - Advanced
  • All-Star coach will contact All-Star nominees by the second weekend of October. The all-star
teams will be posted on the website the second weekend of October.

    • Expected to attend practices leading up to the tournament.
    • Expected to pay uniform cost. (tournament fee is covered by Region this year)

**if a player selected can not make the above commitments, then he/she will not be
part of the All-Star team and will be replaced by the next in line as for as all-star
       voting.
  • Practices may begin the week of October 18 and teams may practice two times a week
    leading up to the tournament.
